Stout's Hotel, Gila Bend, Arizona
I've passed through Gila Bend, AZ a number of times on my way to California or Mexico. It is one of those little towns that makes me realize that while the US is one country in a literal sense, it is filled with towns that could belong to other places and times....places that seem foreign to me and my experience.
Gila Bend seems to have seen better days. Well, actually I wonder if it has ever had "better days" and if so, what that looked like. If it did have better days Stout's Hotel had to have been a part of that. I love vintage neon signs and while not sure how old the sign is, the hotel opened in the 1920s. Evidently steam heat must have been a draw back in the day as it it noted on the sign not just once but twice.
It really is incredible how much life has changed in the past 100 years and I love that little pieces of history such as this are still hanging on, waiting to be discovered.
